Application Change Policy
An application change allows an applicant to request updates to a submitted application, including program, level, campus, and/or term, prior to enrollment. Change requests are subject to institutional policies and program approval, where applicable.
Awaiting Decision Applicants
Applicants with a submitted application that is still under review may submit a one-time change request to update their program, level, campus, and/or term. Multiple changes may be included in a single request. Requests should be submitted directly to the Office of Graduate Education.
Admitted Applicants
Admitted applicants may submit a one-time change request to update their program, level, campus, and/or term. Multiple changes may be included in a single request.
All requests must be submitted to the admitting graduate program for review and approval. The program will notify the Office of Graduate Education if the request is approved.
If requesting a change to the semester of enrollment (deferral):
- Applicants must first consult with the admitting graduate program to confirm availability for the requested term
- The requested deferral term must be within three semesters of the original admitted term
- Requests must be submitted to the admitting graduate program by the Registration Schedule Change Deadline for the admitted term (i.e., the last day to register, make schedule changes, and/or drop courses without a “W” grade, as established by the Registrar).
- If a deferral is not requested by the Registration Schedule Change Deadline, a new application and application fee will be required.
- Applicants who have already used their one-time change request may request an additional change only under the following circumstances:
- Active military duty
- Immigration delays
- Medical emergency
Admitted applicants are encouraged to consult with their admitting program regarding any change requests before contacting the Office of Graduate Education.
Denied Applicants
Applicants who are denied admission are not eligible for a change request. A new application and application fee are required to be considered for any future term, program, level, or campus. Application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
